Medical practice & insurance
In France, Aesthetic Medicine is not a qualifying specialty, but a specific mode of practice. Aesthetic medicine procedures will therefore be carried out within the framework of the practitioner’s official initial qualification: general practitioner, emergency doctor or any other specialty. It is ethically mandatory for a doctor to be covered by Professional Liability insurance for all procedures performed. Before accepting a practitioner for professional liability insurance, insurance companies will evaluate and verify the quality of the theoretical and practical training received by the doctor. The C.I.M.E. diploma is recognised by insurance companies, enabling you to demonstrate your professional competence and authorising you to take out specific professional liability insurance policies covering the risks associated with the practice of aesthetic and anti-ageing medicine.
Note:
In recent years, the CIME has trained doctors of over 20 different nationalities. It’s impossible to perfectly master the medical and tax legislation of every country. That’s why CIME’s courses, in particular those on chartered accounting and medical law, are based on French legislation, which is by far one of the most restrictive.
We would encourage you to check each point, using the courses given by our chartered accountant and our lawyer, of the correspondences between the legislation of your country of practice and French legislation.
For your information, despite these variations in legislation, to the best of our knowledge, all medical doctors who have completed the CIME training program, whatever their nationality, have been able to practise and obtain professional liability insurance in their country of origin.
